RECORDING
Recording music is all about understanding the musical energy of a song and ensuring there are microphones placed correctly to capture that energy in the most aesthetically pleasing way. Our engineers are equally at home organising sessions around a single live take or isolated overdubs and will tailor their workflow to your preferences. MIXING
Mixing is the process of balancing every aspect of a song so that it has the desired impact. Mixing is both a creative and technical endeavour. A mix engineer needs to have a firm grasp on the technical aspects and limitations of audio to enable them to make a cohesive piece of music. We offer mixing services whether you have recorded with us at Gasworks or another studio, or if you have produced your track at home and want a professional mix.
MASTERING
Mastering is the final step in preparing audio to release for streaming, CD duplication, or vinyl pressing. Our acoustically-treated control room and high end monitors help us hear any correction or enhancement your mix needs to compete with your favourite commercial material. We offer hybrid mastering using analogue outboard gear and state-of-the-art mastering software. Our engineers are well versed in mastering for a large range of genres.
PRODUCTION
Production is the holistic view of a single, EP or album. It is a producer’s job to ensure everything works together the way it should, and that the process remains faithful to an artistic vision. That may include session planning, songwriting or arrangement choices, audio engineering, mixing the song or being very involved with mixing process, and the selection of a mastering engineer.
VOICEOVER / PODCAST
If you’ve got a podcast or voiceover part you need recorded but want to offload the tricky technical work to someone, we’d love to help out. We have a range of microphones designed with broadcast and voice recording applications in mind, and a number of tools to polish the audio for broadcast. We can also give you advice regarding best recording practice so you can record it yourself and leave the post-production to us.
FILM AUDIO
We have the tools to manage your projects, ranging from sound design, foley recording or cleaning up some damaged audio recorded on location. We have a game-changingly silent tracking room, a range of sound design and synthesis plugins, and the space to set up a foley playground. We love the challenge of finding the right microphone and source sound when recording foley for film. We use industry-standard software for all our post-production needs.
