Gasworks Studio is nestled in Newstead, just minutes from Brisbane’s bustling music hub, Fortitude Valley. Live music venues, art galleries, coffee shops, restaurants and bars surround Gasworks, creating an exciting atmosphere around the clock. Gasworks Recording Studio is run by four producers, engineers and musicians with a deep passion for music.

Gasworks Studio has a rich musical history. The studio was originally built as Jumpstart Studios by Ollie Friedrich in 2003, before being adopted as the central creative space for Queensland University of Technology’s music program in 2007. QUT renamed it Gasworks Recording Studio, and when QUT vacated in 2015, the name stuck. 

Gasworks Studio is housed in 65m2 acoustically-treated control room. Our world-class monitoring system ensures we are hearing your music as accurately as possible. We use ATC SCM25a speakers as our main monitors and the venerable Yamaha NS-10m as our nearfield speakers. Adjoining the control room is an 80m2 acoustically-treated live room and isolation booth. The live room is well suited to a large range of ensembles from small classical and jazz ensembles, all the way through to huge-sounding rock drums. If you’re looking for something more contained, the vocal booth is perfect for guitar amps, vocal overdubs or tight, intimate-sounding drums.

Our team of professional audio engineers at Gasworks can help you and your music at any stage, be it pre-production sessions, recording, balancing your piece of music in the mixdown or putting the final layer of shine on it in mastering. We also offer podcast and voiceover recording and editing, as well as foley and audio editing for film.

Gasworks accommodates anyone with access requirements, and is wheelchair accessible. Both the internal and external doorways into the studio are 800mm, and the alleyway leading to the external door is 1800mm wide. The path from the carpark to the studio is on a flat plane. There are wheerchair accessible bathroom facilities on site.
